light painting

Lately, I have seen these amazing pictures with light painting popping up everywhere. And I think it's the coolest thing. So, I had to try it, right?

straight out of camera...yeah, not so cool yet but at least I know it's working. Somewhat.

Thunderstorm

I am so new to photography, I have never attempted to capture lightning.

Two days ago, we had a pretty decent thunderstorm coming through our area so I decided to just try and see what would happen. I have to admit, I was standing there with my camera, googeling on my phone "how to photograph lightning". After a few tries, I got some pretty nice frames.

What do you think?

 

Aurora Borealis- Northern Lights

I finally had the chance to see the Aurora here in Minot, ND. It has been a cold and rainy spring so far but one night I was up with my little one around 3am when I saw an alert on my phone. When I looked outside, I saw a beautiful almost clear sky so I took my camera and took a few shots. What I wasn't able to see with my bare eye, the camera captured pretty beautifully, the Northern Lights!

 

The lights in the background are of Minot Air Force Base.
